<p>In my experience, there are women who should simply be avoided for long term relationships. The motivation for this post is not to judge, punish, penalize or denigrate women who have these characteristics. The primary issue is risk — the amount and kind of risk these women present to men for long term relationships and marriage. NAWALT but any man going into a relationship with any of these women should be fully aware of the risks presented.</p>
<p><strong>1. A woman who is more than two years older than you are.</strong></p>
<p>Older women are not optimal for long term relationships. First, the fact that she's older that you are tends to permit her a maternal influence over your relationship. To her thinking, she is older, therefore more experienced, therefore you should do what she says and thinks because she knows more than you do. A second consideration is her physical attractiveness. You'll get to enjoy less of it than you would if you were older than she. The Wall is that much closer for her.</p>

<p><strong>2. A woman who has reached age 30 without ever having married.</strong></p>
<p>Much has been written of these women. Almost all the time, there's a reason why a woman has made it to 30 without marriage. Most of the time, it is simply because she didn't want to marry, and is now desperately looking for a husband. She was or is a carousel rider. Or she was working on her career. Make no mistake about it — these are women who were <a href="https://blog.loveawake.com/2019/01/21/realism-vs-idealism-in-relationships/">not serious about marriage</a>. You do not want to be one of these women's "Plan B". Some 30+ women sadly have mental problems or sexual "hangups" that just prevented men from taking serious interest in them.</p>
<p><strong>3. A woman with children by a man who is still living.</strong></p>
<p>This rules out almost all Baby Mamas and Divorced Moms. If you get into a relationship with one of these women, you will always — ALWAYS — come second behind her children. You will be a de facto father to those children, but with no authority to run your home. You will have all the responsibility to support those children but no authority or ability to discipline them. Even if she receives child support, you will still be writing the checks for her and her children. You will have to deal with Baby Daddy or Ex-Husband. Not worth it.</p>
<p><strong>4. A woman who has ever had an elective abortion.</strong></p>
<p>I have yet to run across a woman who had had an abortion who didn't have serious unresolved regrets and guilt about it; and all the attendant emotional and psychological issues that go with it. Some women get past it, but it takes a long, long time. Many of these women appear to be unable or unwilling to bond. It's a good bet that some such unfortunate women are still emotionally bonded to the men who impregnated them.</p>
<p><strong>5. A woman who has an incurable <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexually_transmitted_infection">sexually transmitted disease</a> (HIV, HPV, Hep-C, genital herpes).</strong></p>
<p>I don't really have to go into much detail here. Problems abound. She cannot have unprotected sex with you. She could likely infect you. She might have a shortened life span. She might be at risk for other diseases. Pregnancy and childbirth might be complicated or impossible.</p>
<p><strong>6. A woman who has ever been treated for an addiction of any kind or has ever been treated with medications for a mental disorder (not including ADHD).</strong></p>
<p>I suppose some of these ladies might be OK depending on how long ago she was treated and how she is now. That can fluctuate the risk considerably. But if you want a wife or an LTR, do you really want to take a flyer on a recovering alcoholic or drug addict; or a (currently) successfully treated <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borderline_personality_disorder">bipolar disorder</a> or borderline personality disorder sufferer?</p>
<p><strong>7. A woman with a lifetime N > 10.</strong></p>
<p>It's an arbitrary number, but the idea again is risk. As N increases, so does the likelihood she's an alpha widow and you are "Plan B". As N increases, so too the likelihood she cannot or will not bond to you. So too the likelihood she has had sex and/or a relationship with a man who she considers to be more attractive than you. N increases the likelihood of unresolved mental issues; past abortion(s); and past or present STDs. N also increases her taste for alpha, the need for the alpha traits you will have to bring to hold her interest, the likelihood of her cheating; and the likelihood that she'll leave you for a man she considers more "attractive" than you.</p>
<p><strong>8. A woman who has a lot of financial problems.</strong></p>
<p>There are some women with a lot of debt, either student loans or consumer debt. Then there are some women who just don't seem to manage money well and are always having problems staying on top of their money issues. Practically speaking, <a href="https://blog.loveawake.com/2022/11/16/5-financial-discussions-to-have-before-you-tie-the-knot/">her debt will become your debt</a>, and you will be expected to help her pay off her debts — even ones she incurred before you met. A woman like this could put you in the poorhouse. If she can't handle her own money, what makes you think she can handle yours?</p>
<p><strong>9. Has very expensive hobbies/pastimes. Examples include owning and caring for large animals (usually horses); traveling abroad.</strong></p>
<p>This is the same kind of problem as 8. above. Expensive hobbies and pastimes can bankrupt you — and you will be expected to finance them. Be forewarned.</p>
<p><strong>10. A woman who has done a lot of traveling to foreign countries (particularly Latin America, the Caribbean, and Western Europe before she met you.</strong></p>
<p>When a young single woman says she "loves to travel", this is usually a euphemism for "loves to go to exotic locations to bang good-looking men". Eventually, Stella might want to get her groove back with someone other than you. A man in a <a href="https://blog.loveawake.com/2020/02/10/busting-single-mom-myths/">serious relationship</a> should be mindful of these patterns and make informed decisions about the risks involved.</p>
